What is the difference between on/off heat pump and inverter heat pump?
With the development of science, more and more people know that they will choose heat pumps instead of electric or gas water heaters when they choose heating products or domestic hot water products. As heat pumps are an energy-saving and environmentally friendly product in the new era, the power consumption of heat pumps is only 30% of that of ordinary electric heaters, and there are no hidden dangers like gas water heaters. Heat pump is an energy-saving and safe heating product. Currently there are two main types of heat pumps on the market: on/off heat pumps and inverter heat pumps. As you know, the first on/off heat pump has been on the market for about 60 years, while the inverter heating heat pump is the product of the last 10 years. Do you know the difference between on/off and inverter? How should we choose when choosing a heat pump? We can find the answer in this article.
What are on/off heat pumps and inverter heating heat pumps for home heating or domestic hot water?
Both types work on a similar principle: heat (energy) is taken from the air and transferred to the hot water for heating. Thus, a heating heat pump consists of three main components.
1. compressor 2. evaporator 3. heat exchanger
Among these important components, the compressor is the biggest difference between on/off heat pumps and inverter heat pumps. It can be said that inverter refers to a way of operation of the compressor, which is very similar to the concept of inverter technology for air conditioners.
When the difference between the set temperature and the current water temperature increases, the control system starts to respond by accelerating the compressor speed to fully adapt to the heat pump's heating state. Thus, the converter heating heat pump allows effective compressor speed variation while the on/off HP maintains 100% heating capacity during operation - which means that the converter HP recovers almost 4 to 6 times more energy than it consumes!
